This is a huge shout out to say thank you again to our wonderful community who support us in so many ways!
Our Monte Cross Country on Tuesday was a brilliant day with prayers answered for fine weather and a joyful atmosphere all round! Our children persevered and ran their different courses as hard as it was! Many tamariki definitely showed our value of courage as they worked their way around the park more than once and tackled “killer hill”. Well done to the forty children who will be going to the Catholic School Zones on Tuesday. Thank you to all of you parents and caregivers who came to support, help and transport children – we are blessed by generosity in our school whānau!
We ended our Tongan Language week today with some yummy Tongan delicacies called keke (small round cakes) and otai (fruit punch) at morning tea and lunch time today. This was followed by a Tongan Assembly where we showed off some of the weeks learning with a Tongan focus. Davina danced beautifully for us – we are so proud of you Davina! After assembly we went outside and lowered the flag while a brave group of our young Tongan ākonga sang the Tongan National anthem! As a school we would like to say thank you to a small group of contributing families who helped us make our Tongan Language week an authentic learning experience! Mālō !
Next week we will celebrate Social Justice Week integrated through Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, our National Language! We will end this week with a Liturgy in the morning at church and an assembly in the afternoon in te reo Māori, as it is Māori Language day on the 14th September. On Friday children can come dressed in Māori / Kiwi Traditional Mufti. The original Māori flag will be raised on Monday morning after prayer assembly with the National anthem if you would like to join us.
